World Environment Day 2023

The IEK NorthRift branch today, through the leadership of its chairman Eng. Otuoma, took part in the World Environment Day 2023 by planting 10 trees at Kapsabet Primary School, 10 trees at Airport View Academy and another 25 trees at Kapseret Forest Station.

During the exercise, young learners and the engineers were educated on several themes surrounding conservation of our forests. This event was undertaken with the view to educate young minds on the importance of taking care of our environment

Moreover, the forester Mr. Joseph Ondieki emphasized the need of tending to every tree planted to ensure growth to maturity. The learners were challenged to undertake care through School Environment clubs- Every tree needs a caretaker!

Participants were challenged to tackle plastics menace by applying strategies such as Reduction of use, Re- Using and Recycling. Additionally, the young learners were asked to take up Science and Math as path to the pursuit of Engineering courses.
